Meet Heather,

With over 15 years of experience, I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety, ADHD, depression, mood disorders and grief. I work with teens and adults, bringing evidence-based techniques to each session.

What sets my practice apart is the emphasis I place on building genuine, supportive relationships. My approach is warm, compassionate and often sprinkled with a bit of humour to make our work together both effective and enjoyable.

The first step in our journey is a thorough assessment, which helps us understand your unique needs and equip you with the tools to face life’s challenges with greater confidence and well-being.

How do I know I need therapy?

If you are wondering if you could benefit from therapy, it’s likely a good time to reach out. Therapy can be helpful if you are feeling emotionally dysregulated, numb, or if notice a pattern of disruptive relationships or unhealthy behaviors. There is no judgment in therapy; it’s a safe space to explore your thoughts and emotions.

How often do we meet? How long does therapy take?

The frequency and duration of therapy varies greatly by individual. Weekly sessions are ideal and most effective. Acute conditions may require as few as 6-8 sessions, while couples and family therapy typically take longer. The American Psychology Association suggests that 15-20 sessions is a common timeframe.

What can I expect my first session to be like?

The first 1-3 sessions typically focus on assessment. This is a conversation to explore your presenting problems, their history, your strengths and your goals, rather than a formal assessment with testing.
